Hospitainer is an activity of Millson BV. Millson has become internationally active since 1996 in developing (health related) ICT solutions for the western market and developing countries. Millson developed an ICT container unit for inter alia Somalia and Ghana. Tthese containers were meant to support the medical staff in rural area's by providing access to internet and telephony, to provide training and coaching and for the ordering of goods.

During the development of the ICT container in Ghana the director, mr. Rolof Mulder, became aware of the acute health problems a large amount of the population faced, mostly problems which could be easily remedied with western technologies. His daughter, Christel Mulder also went to Ghana to work with women who suffered from fistulas and were therefor rejected and expelled out of their communities. Rolof was so touched by his personal experiences and by the stories his daughter told him about the endless suffering these women had to face, that he decided to develope a low-priced medical solution which would be applicable to these specific health problems and easily deployable. Since 2008 Millson started to focus on developing the above described medical solution which has been called the Hospitainer; a modular robust and relatively cheap hospital for rural- and disaster areas.
